|
- A
total of 1200 farmers have been mobilized and trained in
organic vanilla growing, management and marketing.
- Several
organic vanilla farmers' associations have been formed in
the districts of Mukono, Wakiso, Rakai, Mubende, Mpigi,
Masaka and Kayunga. These are the major vanilla producing
districts in central Uganda.
- A
total of of 1200 farmers have been trained in post harvest
handling and storage of vanilla beans.
- An
estimate harvest of 90 tonnes of green pods is expected
as a result of increased production, brought about by training
of farmers modern organic farming techniques.
